What is the National Pole Vault Summit?
What better way to start off the new year with a gathering of thousands of pole vaulters! This January 29th and 30th at John Ascuaga's Nugget, over 2,000 vaulters from around the country will converge in Reno, NV with the nation's best coaches and elite vaulters. Coach Doug has attended for over ten years while Coach Ingrid, Iggy and Combs have made the journey twice already. Coach Petersen will be making his first trip out this year too. As quoted from the National Pole Vault Summit website: "The National Pole Vault Summit is a developmental clinic established and carried on to promote safety and encourage development of the Pole Vault at all levels through continued education. We have structured the clinic to meet the needs of all ability levels. Activities, drills, and participation groups are specifically set up for all beginners and High School athletes according to ability level. These sessions are divided to allow all of these athletes to learn by doing with a group of athletes with similar ability level."

Note to Parents from Coaches
This weekend is jammed pack with a full schedule, leaving little or no time for anything but vaulting. Patriot Pole Vault Club coaches and athletes will stay together at all times, including meals and any down time we may have (which is rare!). The two main sites are the hotel and Livestock Arena. Transportation to and from the hotel and the competition area will be provided by coaches who will rent a vehicle. Athletes will not be allowed to travel back and forth on their own. Know that all athlete's whereabouts will be monitored during the trip with constant communication between athletes, coaches, and parents back home via our live blog.
